Compform computational sketches

Compform, 2020

A series of sketches that arise from playing with code, using platforms such as p5.js, processing, and openscad.

Concept

Compform represents an exploration of computational form—using code as a medium for visual discovery and creative expression. The project emphasizes process-oriented creative practice, where the act of coding becomes a form of sketching and experimentation.

Technical Platforms

  • p5.js: Web-based creative coding framework for generative art
  • Processing: Java-based programming environment for visual arts
  • OpenSCAD: Scripted 3D CAD modeling for parametric design

Approach

The work embraces an iterative, exploratory methodology:

  • Learning through making and experimentation
  • Embracing unexpected outcomes from code
  • Building visual vocabulary through computational processes
  • Exploring the intersection of technical precision and creative expression

Practice

Compform embodies a practice where code serves as both tool and medium—enabling the creation of visual forms that emerge from the intersection of algorithmic logic and aesthetic intention.
