Playful Interfaces
A collection of play-related projects built across my time at Kyle Li's and Henry Hu's New Arcade course at Parsons: game interfaces, physical controllers, and toys that use play as a way to bridge the physical with the digital in fun ways.
Year: 2021
Roles: Designer & Maker

Patapon controllers
A set of Patapon controllers (spear and shield) driven by a tilt sensor. Shaking the physical controllers maps directly to the game's rhythm-and-march input, turning the handheld into the interface. Constructed using pipes and some additional foam pieces.
Quick prototype controllers
Reusing the pipes I created other controllers, like this one working with the same tilt sensor, but used to steer.
Baby crib
A baby crib outfitted with a doll and an array of baby care equipment — a physical, toy-scale play object that turns caregiving routines into a hands-on interaction. Constructed using laser cut acryllic, with a gear interface for the rocking mechanism.
